Guest guest
Hi All, My name is Sophie, i am 41, from Australia. I don't know if i am in the right group or not! Here's my story ..... I have triple disc disease in my lumbar spine which i take Oxycodone for, 8 a day. I also have a lazy bowel. Early in 03 i started to get gallbladder symptoms ...... URQ pain that radiated to my right upper shoulder blade area, with indigestion/burning off and on. In the end i couldn't eat hardly anything and lost 13 kilos in weight. After dismissing my symptoms for ages, the doc finally ran a blood test and said " your gallbladder has to come out " That happened in Jan 04, and it was done via a lap. When i woke from the surgery i felt so good ..... so well, that the doctors were surprised telling me that my op was " difficult " , and that my gallbladder was ' prune like ' and covered in adhesions, which they said was evidence to them that i had indeed been suffering from severe gallbladder attacks. Well derrrr! I'd been telling them that for ages! Anyway ..... i felt so good, i demanded to go home. This was a bit of an issue with them,( they called the head honcho ) but i finally won out and went home. My feeling ' good ' didn't last long! My first post op appointment, i was complaining of a dull pulling sensation where my gallbladder had been, and severe ' burning ' which seemed to come right out of my mouth!I continued to complain about these symptoms for the next 5 or so appointments and was dismissed everytime, except once where the doc said it could be a hernia but that they wont be doing anything about that. Another diagnosis has been ' non ulcerative dyspepsia '. I have been, am on ..... every anti acid known to man, yet none of them seem to help the ' burning ' symptoms? My symptoms now are similar to gallbladder attack symptoms but different ..... my main concern now is this severe burning which i am now having all day, everyday, along with nausea. ( i have suffered with nausea for a few years now because of the Oxycodone ) With the URQ pain, it's different to before, it's now a dull pain/pulling sensation that i get, whereas before it was definitely pain. It also does not radiate to my upper back like it did before.I still hardly eat anything because if i do eat, i get a full feeling that makes me near vomit. I have been reading a little over the internet, and seem to think this may be a sphincter of oddi dysfunction problem? What do you all think? Have any of you experienced what happened to me after having your gallbladder removed? What tests should i ask my GI to run? Sorry for the long post! Sophie. )
