Guest guest
Jim. I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Salad does not bother me as much as the dressing! I have to use lowfat dressing or I will have an attack every time I eat it. I do have an interesting salad story though. My co-teacher is allergic to lettuce! I have never heard of anyone being allergic to lettuce. She cannot eat it at all. I told her it is basically green water how in heavens name can she be allergic to it! Strange huh! Guest guest
Hi everyone, it would have been too much to ask to have a vacation and not have an attack, today I had Caesar salad for lunch and it got me nauseous, hurting and medicating. I can't believe a salad gave me an attack, but I've had them from oatmeal, so it goes. I am feeling better thanks to liquid morphine and phenergan. I hope this finds you all pain-free....Jim PS I miss my dog!!!
Guest guest
Hi Angie and Karyn, Thank you both for responding. I would agree with the dressing thoughts except that I have had the same salad at the same restaurant three times during this past winter during my visits to my parents. My attacks seem to happen at will with no rhyme or reason. I have had attacks from plain oatmeal, I mean no milk or butter or anything. I have also had prime rib cooked medium well and had no ill effects. When my pancreas decides to have an attack, it just does. My Gastroenterologist says with most people there are certain types of food that trigger attacks and that I am quite unique as it happens when it happens. There is only one food that I know definetly triggers an attack and that is lamb. I had roasted lamb and ended up in the ER and about 2 years later I actually forgot and had it again and also ended up in the ER. Now if I smell lamb, I get really nauseous and have had to change my table at a restaurant once because the couple next to me was splitting a standing rack of ribs with the little dresses and all, and I almost redecorated the tablecloth but was able to control myself and take some phenergan and avoid a huge embarrassment. Guest guest
Jim, Salads were ALWAYS the worst for me. Brought on intense double over pain. It was over 4 years before I could have a salad. Really, any kind of raw vegetables were bad. Brocolli, carrots, etc. My GI said it was because your system has to work harder to break these up, because they are raw. Once my ducts were opened and flowing, I was able to eat salads again. Hope you are feeling better today.
