Guest guest
Sounds like you have had some good news as well. I'm glad that the pain meds are helping you and I hope that the pain doc tomorrow will follow suit and you will continue to have relief. Pain meds, as with all medication, are going to be different for everybody. I was on the oxy's for about 8 weeks and then stopped them. I hated the way they made me feel, all dopey headed but they did relieve my pain. Even tho I could not do simple math problems in my head. When I stopped them I had some fairly intense withdrawel. I was literally sick for 3 days, and I did taper down. I was on lots of different pain meds and had less withdrawel after taking demerol for 14 months then I did with that oxy. the oxy's are excellent pain relievers but are very physiologically addictive. I was in pain when I stopped but it was different then the 'usual' pain. I have been on and off dilaudid many times and for me, and I am just speaking for myself, I never had withdrawels from it. My feeling is that the pain needs to be addressed. We become dependent on those meds just to make it through each day. Nobody should suffer for fear of withdrawel. However anytime we take a med there is always the potential of phsyiological addiction and we need to keep that in mind. I wish we had appts at the same time today, I would have loved to have seen you again. Please keep in touch and let me know how things are going for you and if you ever come back to Chas drop me a line, maybe I run down just to say hello. Guest guest
, I am so much better. Today I have really been able to tell a big difference in the amount of plain oxy's I have had to take. My pain doc is WONDERFUL!! I was thrilled with her. She in fact doubled my oxycontin. She said that she thought with the amount of oxycodone I was having to take already the 10 mg was not going to help. So she started me on 20 mg. 2x a day with 5 mg of the plain oxy's for breakthrough. She was very understanding and knowledgeable(to my pleasant surprise) about cp. I was so afraid that she was not going to be, but boy was I shocked. I will share her name with anyone who needs a pain doc in this area. I am going back to Chas. on Aug. 31st at 1:00 to see Dr. Adam's again. Maybe we could meet somewhere that day. I have not experienced withdrawals yet except for one night when I ran out of my oxy's for about 5 days and I had sweats the first night. After that I was fine. It is a shame that we have to go through that. I do hope the dilaudid works for you and you don't have to go through that again. When do you have to go back to see Adam's? Did he say what he was going to do with your situation? Are they running any tests or just waiting to see what is going to happen? Take care sug! Guest guest
The pain doc is wonderful.. Now that IS good news. I am so glad as we all know that is not always the case. I am very pleased and am sure it will be of great benefit. I dont have to see any longer unless there is something drastic and I am counting on never seeing him again as a patient. He told me to get in touch with him if I have a problem. I will keep in mind your appt on the 31, hey maybe I will be in the area and we can have lunch or just a soda and chat. the children will all be in classes by then and I will have more free time then I will know what to do with, maybe I will just ride up to just meet you. Drop me an email and make sure to remind me before the date. You can email me any time of course, you knew that already tho...LOL. I am really so very glad that this doc has worked out so well. Personally I prefer females physicians, they are less rushed in their manner and seem to be more understanding. Warmly, christine
