Guest guest
Hello, had his gallbladder successfully removed via laparoscope this afternoon. His doctor said the procedure went smoothly and he is very optimistic that will be getting relief now and hopefully in about two weeks they want to start weaning his pain meds. So far, after the surgery he had a hard time with pain control and oxygen sats were up and down, so they had to admit him. He was just beginning to get some relief when I left tonight at midnight. He is on his regular pain meds methadone 40 mg twice a day and oxycodone prn breakthrough and they gave him Toradol, Tylenol and a dilaudid pump 0.2 gm q 6 minutes. The best part was him saying he could go for a double cheeseburger - he hasn't been interested in food in a long time. He got saltine crackers instead . Boy, a lot of you have had horrible times after your lap choles, so I hope he does not follow the same pattern. The doctors were great, and fast. They all knew the trouble getting him under control and were able to quickly order more meds. The pain doctor that he is seeing is thinking about trying him on " subox " when he sees him in a couple of weeks. I am just researching that and it is quite interesting. Anyone have experience with it? He is also approved by his insurance for the sandostatin, so that will begin also in a couple of weeks. We hope, hope, hope that he is going to have some good days ahead. I am constantly praying for you all and thank you for all the good information and help I get.
