Guest guest
I am having a really hard time with BS control. For breakfast I usually have 1/2 a bagle. 2 hours later, I am still sitting at 169-230. Thursday's unrinalysis revealed traces of ketones. That 1/2 bagel is all I can eat. As soon as I eat, I either barf it up or, " you know " pass it the other way...I am not waking up hypo or high, My fastings read in the 80s on average. My doc in MN would like to see me on a long, slow released insuling, low dose, one a day. I told my doc here about it, he doesn't think those numbers are high enough. I am thinking maybe he does not realized there is insulin out there for type 2s like me. My PCP won't see me because " I'm advanced " and see a university doc as my GI. GI doc doesn't think I need insulin, the xplant doc in MN does, he wants me to rest the cells for the xplant So I am wondering just how to get this insulin??? What do ya'll think??? Thanks-Kathleen
Guest guest
Kathleen I think you should ask Dr. S in MN if he knows a good endocrinolgist in your area that is already accustomed to seeing pts post ict. That is the problem I am having, there is no 'good " endo docs in my area that is well enough aquainted with the procedure for me to see. I had one guy, but he was a total jerk. Anyway, you will have to find an endocrinolgist afterwards so why not just find one now that you can work with. PS I will return to my search for an endo when the kids go back to school. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I certainly don't know a specific answer to your problem, but I suggest that you might try a whole grain hot cereal made with water. The higher fiber the better. I would even suggest a trip to a store where you might get " steel cut oats " rather than rolled oats. Or, check the shelves of a big grocery store for a whole grain, high fiber cereal. The idea is that the whole grain high fiber is digested slower giving the natural insulin more time to work and the fiber, actually you are looking for water soluable fiber, helps the whole digestive process. You can even cook the steel cut oats (AKA as pin-head oats) in a slow cooker overnight so they are ready in the morning. Lowest heat and about 1/4 to 1/3 additional water. Sweeten with a little dried fruit and your favorite no cal sweetener. Try it a few days and then check your blood sugar and hopefully there will be an improvement. Best wishes, Poncho - GA PS I like Hodgsons Mill Whole Grain with Flax and Soy, but it may not be readily available in your area.
Guest guest
Try a sliver/slice of raw fresh gigger just held between the inside of the lip and gum. It can get a little hot and if so just cut the amount and use more frequently. best wishes, Poncho - GA
