Hi Liz

I was wondering what your diagnosis is, you sound a lot like I use to be with

the night poops and the am poops. I had it like that for about 2 years. I

read about the night pooping once and it's called nocturnal something or

another. It seemed to be a symptom of what I have, which is Microscopic

Colitis. I was diagnosed with this last Aug. Later I found that MC is just a

symptom of an infected bowel. Three alternative Dr's said it is usually due to

a

parasite. Well I got tested by Diagnos-Tech labs and found I had a parasite,

an amoeba. I went through a intensive regiment of antibiotics for 1 month.

I remained sick for a few more months with D etc. Then it slowly went away .

I have had formed normal stools since march. Also my feeling of well being

and my outlook on life is soo much better. I was just wondering if you have

been tested for parasites by a good lab, not just your routine Dr's office lab.

I learned that parasites are active at night, that is why you poop at

night.

Good luck,

Doreen

<<Hi Everyone,

It would be helpful to me to fully understand what everybody means with

regard to bowel movements as they are the benchmark of improvement and as

another

listserve calls " trophies "

If we speak of diarrhea - is this the old kind I remember BEFORE IBD that is

brown and liquid- no formed stool whatsoever? If so - I rarely get this kind.

I used to have connected formed BMs that started getting " laced " with white

stuff 4 years ago when I was pregnant with my son. I didn't know then I was

beginning to get sick.

Then I got constipated - which was going 1 to several days without a bowel

movement and when it finally came it was small, sectioned and sometimes

difficult to pass.

During this time I was awake at night with serious abdominal pain.

Then I had my son and got REALLY sick - the constipation turned to a liquid

stool which does not look like classic diarrhea (as I mentioned at the top).

It is more light brown to flesh colored. It definately does not look like

stool. I don't even know to call it mucus - it's not liek nasal mucus, I'll

tell

you that. It would happen on & off all day after eating and started to show

blood as well.

Now 3 years later, I have about 1-3 bms a day all of them in the am which

start as gas, liquid and then formed stool. I do not have much of this at all

during the day regardless of what foods I eat.

At night it's a whole other story! And I wonder if this is due to the

slowing of digestion and/or exhaustion for me with working part time and

mothering

two little ones! After an SCD dinner - I find I cannot have any snacks at

all. I wake up in the night with the liquid bms.

So this is my theory - I wonder if the gut bugs get all " freaky " at night -

my intuition says limit their fuel for evening fermentation activities. so

that's what I'm doing with moderate success.

So anyway - that's my poop story and I'm sticking to it (ha ha). Anyone else

have any wisdom to shed? I'm finding it very difficult to measure success or

failure because I don't have diahrrea and I'm not sure what is causing the

irregular bowel movements - food intolerance, lack of healing or overgrowth of

bacteria or all of the above but it's sure hard to pinpoint.
