" I realize that at this time. the work you do is voluntary, however, it is working with pancreatic patients teaching them about the disease and incorporating diabetic teaching, as well. You are a pancreatic nurse educator / liaison. You should have this on your resume. When I volunteered for the American Cancer Society, I did nursing educational activities, support groups, lectures, etc. I wasn't paid, but it provided the basis for a job I obtained later, which required that experience. If you want to run support groups, hang a PAI shingle at your local hospital, they would be glad to have you I'm certain. The State Boards of Nursing do not require that nursing hours provided be compensated momentarily. Therefore, the nursing care you provide through the PAI is transferable to the nursing license review board. I spoke to the nurses on the pancreatic floor at IU and they wish there was a specific nursing association for pancreatic nurses. I game. Guest guest
I know this may sound hokey but I truely believe that God is the power behind my becoming a nurse, you read that in my story. I also believe the reason why I didn't get the jobs I applied for last winter is because He knew I was not strong enough yet. So given all that I know the right job will come along when my body is ready to accept it. Yes I would love to work with cp patients. I think I would have an insight into their condition that remains lost by most health care providers. I have requested all the books from the CDE ADA group and hope to get it soon. I dont know if I can legally instruct without certification but I can guide and if I document that properly I can apply for certification after 1000 hours of pt teaching. We;ll see if that is in the big plan for me. I had thought about putting my involement with PAI on my resume but I chose to leave it off and give that info at an interview. I dont think I could use my time on here toward my licensure as I was under the influence of a great many narcotics for so very long. Besides they would require documentation stating how many hours and so on from a supervisor. I had given talks at my childrens school and put that on there only to find out my license was denied for lack of documentation. I had to resubmit my info and left of the volunteering. Thanks for the support tho, I do appreciate it and you never can tell, maybe I will get the job of my dreams. Warmly, christine
