Guest guest
I have been reading posts on here for a month or so, but haven't posted anything yet. I am 24 and live near Huntsville, AL. My mom, Lynn in Indianapolis, has been on here longer than I have and posted a few things. It has been great reading about everyone else's experiences. I have not been at work for several months now and am feeling very frustrated and this has been a great source of support. I thought I would post some of my story as well. I have been diagnosed with SOD by Dr. Lehman and am going for my second ERCP on August 15th. The first one I had several months ago didn't seem to do a whole lot so I am hoping to get some relief this time. I have had abdominal pains after eating for about 7 years now that would happen 4 or 5 times a week. Then at the end of March of this year I started having severe pains all the time with nausea, vomiting, and chest pains. My GI doctor here has been pretty good and we went through everything that he could do for me and everything would always come back fine. I have had several instances of elevated liver enzymes and an elevated CRP, but that was all anyone could really find until Dr. Lehman said that my pressures were high. I don't know if anything is going on with my pancreas as well. After I recovered from my first ERCP, I thought I was getting somewhat better, but then things got real bad again. I have had a fever every day since that ERCP and I never had that before. I also recently had my thyroid levels checked and was told I had an underactive thyroid. I have just starting trying to check my blood sugar. I have been waking up in the middle of the night sweating a lot and in pain and am not sleeping well at all. My family doctor said that I seemed to be having a lot of hypoglycemic events. We tried to do a glucose tolerance test but I couldn't keep the glucose solution down. I saw a post on here from about the wedge pillows at Bed Bath & Beyond so my husband got me two of them and they seem to be helping me sleep a little better. I have been sleeping on the couch in a reclined position for awhile so I at least have been able to sleep in bed a little now. I am hoping we can find out something else when I see Dr. Lehman. I will be having the ERCP at 1:00 on Monday, 8/15 at IU with Dr. Lehman. My husband, Jon, and my mom, Lynn, will be there. I have a consultation with Dr. Lehman in the morning and the ERCP is scheduled as long as he still thinks that would be a good thing to do next. Karyn, that would be great if you would want to stop by while I am there. I really appreciate the offer! in Alabama > Lynn, > > You wrote, " I read these boards in hope of helping my daughter who has SOD. > She is a > patient of Dr. Lehman and will be (hopefully) having another ERCP on Aug > 15.
