Guest guest
Hi everybody, We are on day 5 of our SCD trial. Im sorry that I could not say that we see some " mirracles " as many of you notice after the 1st day od SCD. I dont know why this happend to athers and no to us. I can say that his beahaviour is worst, moo non stop, nothing to interest, only in 2m2 and something to sin in his hands, he didnt do this before... On day 4 yeasterday he make the 1st poo after the 4 days of constipation, but this was provoked from Epsom salth bath, my son like to drink water, and he swallow a bit, I let him, and after few hours, he make a poo, like diarhea... I want to ask you all for advice, no one else I have here: -My son have many gasses and very very smell !! Can anyone tell me is this normal is this die-of etc, it is very smell and non stop gasses?? He is not officialy on intro but is the same, he dont want to eat anything. How days goes he DONT LIKE TO EAT, anything, he dont like pankakes (banana, checken), he stop the eggs (he likes them lot), he dont want to eat meat, meat balls, he dont like to taste the SCD nut bread. These 4 days he eats: Breakfast-egss 2; Lunch-Chicken broth, Meat balls broth, Dinner-very difficult to eat, sometimes eggs again or broth.. From yeasterday he stop the egss, last night he dont like to eat anything. I prepare him eggs-no, broth-no, SCD bread-NO, at least I gove him 1 1/2 bannana, and this was the dinner. This morning he dont lie to eat anything again, I give him 2 eggs for 2 hours, little by little. I think that my son loose his apetite.. Is this normal in begining?? I read, read that many kids makes a wonderful changes from SCD, from day 1 some, we, are far away from it!!!!!!! Behaviour is worst.... Sorry for long letter. Need some advicess please... I want to ask you all for advice, no one else I have here: -My son have many gasses and very very smell !!>> The diarrhea and smelly gas are common at the beginning when the bad microbes are dying. This is what we call die off. <<Can anyone tell me is this normal is this die-of etc, it is very smell and non stop gasses??>> Yes, it is all very common, many parents go through the same things. <<He is not officialy on intro but is the same, he dont want to eat anything. How days goes he DONT LIKE TO EAT, anything, he dont like pankakes (banana, checken), he stop the eggs (he likes them lot), he dont want to eat meat, meat balls, he dont like to taste the SCD nut bread. Continue to give him fairly easy to digest foods. In other words peeled cooked fruits and veggies. This is because although he hasn't had many bowel movements they are diarrhea. <<This morning he dont lie to eat anything again, I give him 2 eggs for 2 hours, little by little. I think that my son loose his apetite.. Is this normal in begining??>> Many children feel very lethargic, tired, no appetite at the beginning. Epsom salt baths will help his body get rid of the toxins that come with die off. This is very normal. <<I read, read that many kids makes a wonderful changes from SCD, from day 1 some, we, are far away from it!!!!!!! Behaviour is worst.... Sorry for long letter. Usually once the worst part of the die off passes, things improve. Sheila
Guest guest
I think this is Die-Off. I do not have experience with children on SCD, but I have read these emails. I believe it happens quite often that children get WORSE in their behavior BEFORE they get better. Continue on. Have you tried given him cooked carrots? You need to boil them for 2 hours. They taste really great! I eat them mashed (like a mouse, soft). You could also boil cucumbers, zucchini, long green beans... I hope that someone has some good advice for you! I think you are going in the correct direction, though. Have you read the constipation protocol on pecanbread about constipation (not pooping?) You take prunes (dried plums without sugar)... boil them in water and give a bit of this juice to him. You can also boil apples or pears that do not have peals... that will help with constipation also, I believe. -kelly
Guest guest
Hi Goran, If he doesn't like banana pancake, try to bake the banana without anything. I just use a small oven and baking the banana will make it sweeter and soft. My daughter really likes it, especially if I drizzle with nut flour (very fine almond flour), you can also try baked pear (I put a little bit of water in the same baking dish so it's crunchy at the top but still moist inside). If you can do the proper intro stage with the carrot chicken soup and try to do the eggs differently each day so he doesn't get bored. My daughter improved instantly when I did the intro diet properly but slowing down when I introduced new foods as she has salycilates & phenol intolerance. So, perseverance is needed here. Plan ahead what you're going to give him and always prepare for a substitute if he refuses one food. I tried to balance the meal i.e baked meat with steamed & pureed vegetables (she doesn't like the veges but when I put the baked meat on top of the veges in the same spoon, she will have to eat both and having it pureed make it easy to swallow and digest). Hope this gives you more ideas. Better if he eats more variety but it is okay. To be ripw the bananas should be yellow with lots of freckles/spots (brown or black). <<I need solutions and ideas for breakfast, tomorv I will prepare a eggs and banana, but separatey baked, will see.>> I have salmon for breakfast. Sometimes I'll make fish cakes: 1 can of salmon mixed with 2 eggs fried up as pancakes. Eggs: Boiled, over easy, poached (one of my favorites), cheese omelettes Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and daniel
