I am not sure what happened here but I am also concerned for

and want to make it clear to both her and all on this

board that I never, ever in any way, meant for my posts on the

issue of GA vs conscious sedation to be taken as criticism or

disagreement or " proof " that her facts were wrong!!!!

That was not my intention at all: if anyone senses anger or

frustration in my posts it was aimed at myself and / or the system

of health care in our society as well as those doctors that treat us

like ignorant buffoons.

I thought I was making clear that my posts were an attempt to

show how either definition of GA was the right one (that is, full

intubation as opposed to none). In fact the last post that I made

on the postition statement by the American Society of

Gastroenterologists stated clearly that GA may or may not

include intubation so and Kaye, as well as many

others who posted all were " right " if that is what we are looking to

validate.

So, for those of us who have had GA I am sure that there are

variations in exactly how this was carried out. But that doesn't

refute anything that or Kaye said. All that is means is

that there are differences in what GA means.

I hope that all of us realize that discussing an issue and offering

data to clarify a point is offered in a spirit of enlightenment and

not criticism. To disagree or have different experiences or

interpretations of a concept or event doesn't have to mean that

there is a judgement value attached. My thoughts, experiences or

philosophies don't have to be " better " or " worse " than anyone

elses.....just different. And different doesn't mean that they have

lesser or greater value or truth.

It is rare indeed when even " hard " facts can live up to that

designation. Even in science, studying so-called laws of the

universe can be open to interpretation depending on the

observers point of view (I am thinking of Heisenbergs'

uncertainty principal for example as well as Einstein's theory of

relativity).

Think how much more this uncertainty applies to " facts " involving

ideas, attitudes, experience and personalities. Each of us is a

product of what we are now, have been and will be and each of

us needs to have the assurance that comes with the self

confidence of accepting that we are who we are. Which I think is

based on internal parameters of measurement, not by

comparison to others and things beyond our control.

Other than that one anomaly a few weeks or months back (with

that poster who was quite offensive) I do not think anyone

deliberatly posts with the intention of hurting, ridiculing or

demeaning another person's thoughts or comments.. And this

particulary applies to who is the " mother " of us all in a

sense......with her support, humour, willingness to share her

trials as well as her triumphs, her clear explanations..........

I am not sure if she is keeping in touch with this board but I hope

she reads this post and realizes that if she construed any

offense in my posts of yesterday (or ever) that it was purely

unintentional and that I hope she can overcome whatever

difficulty she is facing right now soon.

If there is anything that I can do for you, Chrissy, please call me

and let me know. If you need company there is a chance that I

can get my butt down to you for a few days. I have some vacation

time coming and I can arrange to take some days if needed.
