Guest guest
Debra, Thanks for all the info. As far as my tests goes, when I was diagnosed I had a TSH of 6.78 and the last test the FNP did before sending me to a Endo doctor (my mistake as to earlier posts. I have seen one.) was T3 32, T4 13.1 and TSH 0.04. The endo didn't want to adjust my meds because he wanted me to lose weight and in his opinion this is how I would do it, by now being HYPERthyroid. BUT in his opinion hypothyroid doesn't make you gain weight. Thats all my fault for over indulging, according to him. He also then made me an appt. with another panc specialist AND he picked me out a panc surgeon and even made me appts. with these people WITHOUT my consent. He knew I had/have a pancreas doctor. Oh yes, let's not forget he put me on an 800 calorie a day diet with no dairy, no meats, just soy and veggies so I could lose 25 pounds before he scheduled my gastric bypass surgery!!! I am overweight by 25 pounds at the most. He also told me to buy these shoes he wore that weigh 8 pounds a piece to increase weight loss. Did I mention I NEVER asked about gastric bypass! This was his doing. He would barely talk to me about my thyroid. Focussed on my great " obesity " and then before I left his office he told me that because I have CP and SOD my life span has been greatly reduced and I probably only have 8 more years to live!!!! So after hearing all this, the FNP agreed with me NOT to go back to this guy (I am HMO by the way) but she also isn't comfortable playing around with my meds and adjusting them. She just said to keep taking them and she tried to get me a prescription pill that gives you energy, but that has a side effect of pancreatitis. Some people on the board take it, but I would prefer not to. Can't remember the name of that med right now. At any point, the HMO has denied it 4 times now. The FNP did ask me to go off the meds to re-test to see if anything had changed. I went off them for 2 months and then re-tested with all levels off the charts. SO here I am now trying to stay awake during the day and living on caffeine to do so. I have aches and pains and joints that hurt. My husbands Aunt suspects I have fibromilagia and the FNP suspects Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Both nothing anyone can diagnose on paper or do anything about. Thanks for you info. I found it very enlightening and helpful. Sandy in Ca
