Guest guest
Hi! I made the yogurt for the first time yesterday following all the instructions, but it's really watery. Is that normal? Should I be doing something differently to make it more firm? Also, I gave my daughter the yogurt for the first time and she ate a small bowl of it (1/2 cup). Is that okay if she doesn't have a bad reaction? How much of it should I be giving her a day? Thank you for any response. Guest guest
Was it from goat milk? Goat milk yogurt is very watery. You can drip it to make it more firm. I have mine go through a coffee filter. I suppose 1/2 cup is ok if there's no bad reaction. The probiotics in yogurt are powerful and can cause die off and/or constipation so we usually recommend starting with 1/8 teaspoon. You took a shortcut. Use the amount of yogurt that helps your child *if* it is less than 2 cups. 2 cups is the maximum that Elaine recommended for a child that has had significant healing. If the child has not healed significantly, he/she may react more to the yogurt and you would have to use smaller amounts. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. I will try the coffee filter. I guess I was overeager about the amount of yogurt. She really liked it so I gave her alot. So far so good. I discontinued all SCD illegal supps. I even discontinued the Valtrex tablet because I thought it probably had illegal binders/starch in it. I chickened out on the Pentasa though and am continuing to give it to her. Her behavior is really stimmy and wacky, but cognitively she's more aware and engaging in more social interaction. I'm encouraged although a bit concerned about her behavior. Behaviorally, she's awful, but cognitively and socially, she's better. She starts IV chelation on Friday so I'm a bit worried. But-I'm committed to the diet. Anyway thanks again for your help. Sally (mom to Chloe-4 ASD and Rhys-ASD 2 yo. SCD for Chloe since 7/07) > > Was it from goat milk? Goat milk yogurt is very watery.
