Guest guest
I recently posted about my son's wonderful progress. Well, he got sick recently, throwing up off and on for several days straight. I felt a little ill the first night as well. I'm not sure if it was just something going around or if it was the jack style goat cheese we tried for the first time that day. When he threw up the first time there were little round globules of the cheese in it, although the snack that we had after the cheese was not present at all. Does it take longer to digest the cheese? Would this be normal to still have big globs of it in the digestive system many hours later (about 8 hours)? Does anyone know what cultures are used in jack style cheese? Could that have caused the throwing up? Slowly his poop has started getting less formed. Now it is so bad and runny that I just threw away an entire outfit, it was that bad! Could all of this have been the jack style cheese? We were doing fine with the cheddar style, but the store was out so I thought I would try the jack. Bad bad bad decision, I guess. Some Jack cheese is aged insufficiently. Some may have illegals added. <<Could that have caused the throwing up? Slowly his poop has started > getting less formed. Once the d stops readd all of your safe foods again. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and daniel
Guest guest
Hi Sheila. Thanks for your input. I think perhaps the cheese wasn't aged properly. I looked on their website, and they actually label this cheese as " fresh jack cheese. " Although the package I bought is just labeled " country jack cheese " and doesn't say anything about being fresh or aged or not. It is a harder cheese, similar to the consistency of the cheddar, so I didn't think anything of it when I bought it. I certainly would not have thought it was " fresh. " The ingredients are: pasteurized cultured goat milk, salt, microbial enzymes. We'll go back to a really basic diet again (not much of a change for us, sigh) and see if we can clear up the D. We will basically do the intro diet plus the banana. The banana really always seems to help firm things up. Guest guest
Hi Not all hard cheese is legal. Mozzarella is a solid cheese but is aged insufficiently so it is illegal. Fresh Jack cheese is illegal, not aged sufficiently. It is good if the banana helps firm up the stool. Sheila > > Hi Sheila. Thanks for your input. I think perhaps the cheese wasn't > aged properly.
