Guest guest
My son is pretty much sensitive to everything. He's doing great on the diet (7 months) but we're both getting bored with the few things he can eat. We want to try something new, but are leery because he suffers so much when I get it wrong. any one have some thoughts on what to try next? here are the things he currently tolerates Meat pecan meal zucchini pears banana (occasionally) carrots butternut squash broccoli spinach goat yogurt honey everything is still cooked and pureed Teena Ben age 4, SCD 7 months, ASD, dyspraxia, SPD,serious allergies, ADHD and more
Guest guest
Ok, disregard this if it's high in phenols, etc., because I don't have that list handy but.. How about green beans? Or do you think you might be ready to try pears that are not pureed? You could bake pear halves or bake diced pears for a change of pace to the pear sauce. See the " Baked Fruit " recipe on pecanbread.com for some ideas of extra flavors to add (spices, fruit juices). mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Hi, The reason your son is sensitive to so much is because he has an immune system issue. Meaning that his immune system is overreacting to everything. That is what you should concentrate on is fixing his immune system and of course the gut. At least 70% or more of your immune system depends on how good your gut is functioning. I gave a website to a few of the list people that I think will help. It is www.pathwaysmed.com I think they can help you. There is also a food sensitivity test from England called Alcat. I believe they have a website. This is a neat place as they test foods, molds, environmental stuff, etc. They check this stuff on your white blood cells. Most tests only do IGg but this company does all the parts of your immune system. Beth V D B Organic Farms Bob & Beth Van De Boom N5181 Pinnow Rd. Guest guest
Hi Teena Actually, for a child with all those food allergies, your son is lucky to be able to tolerate the foods you have listed. My daughter has been on SCD for 6 months and only a month ago I found out she had trouble with salicylates and phenols. She tolerates only 2 different vegetables, green beans and butternut squash.Sometimes I give her green peas but they have to be well cooked and pureed to avoid the skin. I'm going to try other kinds of squash like acorn squash or pumpkin and I know there's a kind of apple that is safe for our kids, I think is the delicious golden kind, I'm not sure... I hope this helps a little. Good luck to you all. Ximena 's mom. 3y,8m old. PDD-NOS. SCD 6 months. aneetw wrote: My son is pretty much sensitive to everything. Guest guest
Could you possibly make Jello out of watered down pureed fruit and/or fruit juice just to change it up? You could even put diced, cooked fruit in it. Also, freeze pops out of pureed fruit are a hit with my kids, who refuse cooked fruit normally. Today, I cut an apple in the shape of french fries, baked them, and sprinkled cinnamin on them and called them " apple sticks " and he loved them. You may want to consider an enzyme such as Houston's No Phenol if you have not tried it previously. Maureen, Mom of Nick ASD age 5 SCD for one month and Kenny age 2 OK so far thank God!
