Guest guest
I've known years before SCD that garlic is like a natural antibiotic. I never really thought about what it means with SCD, though. How does garlic specifically effect the good gut bugs and the bad gut bugs? Does it kill both? Does it kill or otherwise harm bad bugs and leave the good bugs or what? We like to use lots of fresh garlic on our food and don't want to make things worse unintentionally. What's the scoop on this? Guest guest
Hi Bonita, <<I've known years before SCD that garlic is like a natural antibiotic. > I never really thought about what it means with SCD, though. How does > garlic specifically effect the good gut bugs and the bad gut bugs?>> I have only read articles that say that garlic does not act on the good lactic acid bacteria in our bodies. Garlic does act on the harmful microbes. > Does it kill both? Does it kill or otherwise harm bad bugs and leave > the good bugs or what? I suppose there is a possibility that garlic may harm some good guys so if you want to be extra careful you can take probiotics and/or yogurt a couple of hours apart from garlic. Guest guest
Sheila, Thanks much for the info. I really love the way you seem to break the questions down, filtering out the emotionalism (I myself being queen of that) and getting to the facts and giving facts. Most helpful and extremely useful. It helps bring things down to the issues instead of the emotional response to the issues.
