Guest guest
Hey There ......How are you feeling now? Has the attack seemed to ave eased up any yet? I hope you are feeling a bit better Wow...you are having a time with these doctors, huh? I know exactly what you are going through...I've been there, done that many, many times! I have a question tho...don't you have a port-a-cath? I think I read in a previous post that you do. I do 2. I'm on my second one. Its been in there for a year this month. The old one lasted almost 3 yrs, but then it started pushing up through the skin...not pretty! Any- who..have you ever done the IV fluids & IV meds at home? My OLD doctor would let me do this whenever I felt like I needed it...but the doc I'm seeing now will not allow it for some reason. I managed to stay out of the ER for over 2 yrs (which was great for me, I was using as a drive thru a few yrs ago!) but since my old doc quit me (one of many who have) and I am now seeing this new/old/again doc...well, remember a few yrs back when there was the " hospitalist " who worked for the doctor's group I was going to,who didn't believe there was anything wrong with m pancreas, who would give me a hard time everytime I was in the hospital.... who hated me & I hated him just as bad? I'm back with this group of doctor's but the hated one got de-ported back to his home country for some reason....hum..imagine that! So, he won't let me do the IV stuff at home and always tries to make me go to the ER. I argue with him, but never win. I hate that place so much! And I know, as well as you do, that after just a few days of NPO, IV fluids & IV meds, the attack will ease some. I was just wondering about the reason YOU have the port & if anyone has suggested you use it at home. Thanks alot! Lots of Hugs, From Ohio - Think maybe I should put that now since there is another too? Or do you think it will be ok without it? Just wondering! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My pcp and I discussed the fact that because I have cp, my panc enzymes rarely elevate and my GI has said we have to go by the symptoms, not the labs. If I am throwing up to the point of dehydration and/or my oral meds are not controlling the pain, then I most likely need to admitted for at least a couple of days of 'gut rest' - NPO for a day or so and then slowly advance my diet. My pcp assured me that he totally agreed with my GI doc and had no problem managing my care. W
