All,

I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks and counting for a central line

infection. The stakes have been raised since this time, the infection

affected my heart and I got Endocarditis. This is my second central

line infection in 7 months.

I would like to ask someone to send me the list of antioxidants that

are recommended for CP and if anyone can share their experience with

central line infections I would be most grateful. The doctors want me

to get another central line. I am too scared to get another line.

I have access to email in the hospital.

Truly grateful for any experience or encouragement and the list of

antioxidants,

Pat German

Pat, I had a central line that lasted for about 5 months. I had it

removed because a doctor thought it was infected, but in reality, it

wasn't...they then put in a port a cath.

I have managed to have my port for almost 2 1/2 years and going

strong. No sign of infection either. Perhaps you can suggest

that..it is a cell that is placed beneath the skin and only has to

be flushed once a month to maintain it. Much better than having the

tubes sticking out of one's chest wall and having to flush that once

a week, and less chance of infection, as the skin seals back up over

it once the incision has healed..

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to you...

Antioxidants I can't help you with except to mention garlic, it is

the be all and end all for helping the body, oh and omega 3 fish

oils, but not sure how that goes with CP...I've not taken

antioxidants....green tea is also an excellent antioxidant.

Pat,

The antioxidants that are used in the Manchester Royal Infirmary

Pancreatitis therapy are:

Beta Carotene - 9,000 IU

Vitamin C - .054 grams

Vitamin E - 270 IU

Selenium - 600 mg

L-Methionine - 2 grams

I hope this helps. I can't give you any advice on central line

infections, but know that there are several others who can.

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi
