Guest guest
Pat, I;m sorry that you are having such a rough go of it. I hope they figure out what is going on soon and get you back home in your own bed. I know the hospital is no place to get any rest. If you look on the file section you will see a list of vitamins and minerals that Heidi or Mark had posted. It is a very good list of the antioxidents you were asking about. When I was first diagnosed, before I ever heard of this group I did some research on my own and found several studies in regard to vitamin and mineral supplements for cp patients. My list is very similiar to the ones on the file. However, I added Iron, Amino Acid (a protein), Flaxseed oil caps (an omega 3) and Biotin for my hair and skin. I think that may be the only difference between the 2 if I recall correctly. Also I posted to Deb a few weeks ago my complete list with dosages and if you do a search look for " Vitamins to Deb " . I found it but couldn't figure out how to repost it, but you can print it out. Dont take vits and mins with diary as it reduces the absorbtion. Always take Iron with Vit C or OJ as it increases the absorbtion. If yo are on enzymes tke the supplements with your enzymes and it helps to have a little something in your stomach, I would try some dry toast. There were times, especially as I got sicker, that I could not always tolerate them, but I took them as often as I could. I really and truly believe that these supplements were one of the reasons I had done so well after all the surgeries and what not. It was very important to me to try to stay as strong as I possibly could. A difficult tasks to say the least with advanced cp. My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope you are feeling better soon.
