Guest guest
I have a 8 year old son with autism and recently diagnosed eosinophilic colitis. I am considering the SC diet, but am researching it carefully first. One thing that will be difficult is that he is milk and nut allergic, so not sure how we can deal with that - guess he won't be having muffins or anything. Does anyone know if Hemp Milk is legal? I know hemp seeds would not be, but does that change for milk? I did search the message board for this but didn't see anything about hemp milk. Otherwise, I have no idea what I could give him for a milk substitute - not soy, rice, potato or almond, anyway. My only challenges that I can see are the milk substitute and what to give him for snack times instead of chips/crackers/cookies. Otherwise, I am good to go with this diet. He is not a picky eater, but has these other food restrictions, as well as some chewing difficulties. Thank you. Kim
Guest guest
Hi Kim, I have heard of zucchini milk so I just did a google search. This recipe was on recipelink.com They said: Zucchini Milk Peel zucchini and cut into chunks. Toss the chunks into a blender or food processor and blend until liquefied. That it! I have never made it so I don't know how it is. I would deseed it before blending! Beth newbie - hemp milk question I have a 8 year old son with autism and recently diagnosed eosinophilic colitis. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Kim, <<I have a 8 year old son with autism and recently diagnosed > eosinophilic colitis. I am considering the SC diet, but am > researching it carefully first. One thing that will be difficult is > that he is milk and nut allergic, so not sure how we can deal with > that - guess he won't be having muffins or anything.>> Do you mean he is anaphylactically allergic to milk and nuts? If yes is it all types of milk (cow milk, goat milk etc..) All nuts tree nuts, peanuts etc..? Some are intolerant (gassiness, diarrhea etc..) to some foods but find that as they heal they are able to tolerate foods eventually. Some are allergic (IgE) to nuts and dairy and are able to do the diet. They have to use the other food groups more creatively. There are lots of great kid friendly recipes (including snacks) at http://pecanbread.com/new/recipes1.html <<Does anyone know if Hemp Milk is legal? I have made them with ripe banana and water. To make it more like ice cream you can freeze or partially freeze the fruit.
