Hi,

I haven't been on the board lately. My 18 year old son had a total

pancreatectomy two years ago. He says he still has pain most of the

time. Of course it isn't as bad as the pancreatitis, but he says it

is like he walks around with a knife stuck in him and seems to be

getting a little worse. I asked him this evening if we need to check

in to light pain meds but first I wanted to see if anyone else has

experienced this?

Thanks for the help,

Ross

Your son should talk withhis doc about this. It could very easily be

adhesions which is not so uncommon after such a big surgery. I had a

total with islets last november and still had some discomfort. I went

in and they found a hernia but I was told that adhesions could be a

possiblity any time after such a big op. Its best that he see his doc

and maybe at some test, like a ct scan just to make sure.

Hope this helps and I hope your son feels better soon. if there is

anything else, please ask. Oh and do let me know what ya'll find out.

Warmly,

Was there anything that they could do about your discomfort?

Yes, they did a huge hernia repair surgery last may. It turned out to

be a total nightmare as I dehissed and developed an even bigger hernia

that was incarcerated. That was just a few weeks after the initial

repair. I am feeling better now tho. I am still having pain there;

similar to the old panc pain but not as bad. I am going to give it

some more time and see how it goes. I am definetly doing much much

better to.

I think you need to take you son to the GI doc as soon as you can. You

certainly dont want something minor making matters worse.

Warmly,
