I've had one for about a year and have had two replacements. Also HP has issued a product warning reguarding this monitor and extended the normal 12 month warrentee to 24 months. But, I think it's just a design with suspect components and I would recommend avoiding the unit. With the defect on record you might find retailers unloading these 17 in. monitors at bargain prices, but it's still not worth the possible failure and hassel getting it replaced. Guest guest
Hi again Anyse, Last spring the division that I work for finally bought me a new computer..However, they failed to purchase a monitor for it so the CPU hasn't been unpacked yet. I recently started to look into buying a monitor and I was wondering if I can get your advice (or anyone else who wishes to contribute). The computer is a Power Mac G5. The flat screen monitors that are supplied by Apple computers are not an option to me because they are " too big " . (our administrator doesn't think that a 20 or 21 inch monitor is appropriate for someone like me - it is probably the cost: $800.00 or more). So I have been checking into other models and have run into the sony, magnivision, samsung, etc. I am thinking that I can talk them into a 17 " flat screen monitor although a 15 " is better than nothing. The price ranges are from $250.00 to $450.00. Obviously I need something that is compatible with a Mac. And I have been told to stay away from plasma and stick with LCD (TFT). Any advice, recommendations? Thanks. laurie
