Guest guest
I also collect seashells, living on the coast makes it much easier but in all honesty I know no other place. Anyway a few years ago we took our children to Orlando FL. they have an awesome science museum where everything is hands on. In the basement they have stuff that kids can trade for. My son brought in several sandollars and shells and traded for this very large peice of petrified wood. Its very cool and I use it on my desk as a paper weight; he's 15 now and has little interest in such things. Anyway, maybe there is a science museum in your area where you can donate these things so that kids from Kansas and other land bound areas can enjoy them and maybe even do some trading as well. I am also an avid bird watcher. We have had some problems with West Nile also. Breaks my heart. I live on 16 acres, mostly heavily woooded decidious forrest; and we are surrounded by the national forrest. I see tons of cool birds. Also this area is a great migratory area at different times of the year. I had spotted these falcons, a mating pair, early last spring. They stuck around for about 2 months or so then poof. Well I couldn't find them in any of my books that appear to be found in this area. They looked just like Eurasion Falcons! I'm not at all sure about that but sure did look like it. I had a great time watching them soar and catch their prey, and hope they return next year. I have this thing for birds of prey. Saw a Swallowtailed Kite last week, that was pretty cool. Well anyway, look into the Science museum thing, I'm sure a collection like your's would be appreciated by a lot of folks. Oh and I went to one of those huge flea markets and this one lady had a table full of shells she was selling, by the sea shore (hey maybe her name is Susie...LOL). I laughed thinking why would anybody buy these, well they sure did. All those folks from Kansas and other land bound states. I can imagine what her profit margin must have been...LOL. I'm glad your doing better and hope you continue to get stronger every day. Warmly, (SC)
