Guest guest
Sandy, There are several pain scales used today. I personally prefer the comprehensive Comparative Pain Scale because it uses clear descriptions of the pain, as well as numbers 1-10. The other types are the VAS pain scale,(Vertical visual analog scale, the NRS pain scale,(21 point numeric rating scale), the VDS pain scale,(verbal descriptor scale, the VNS pain scale,)11 point verbal numeric rating scale, and the FPS pain scale, (faces pain scale), which I believe is the one you were looking for. Here's the url, and a good article describing pain management, too, from Duke University. http://www.dukehealthraleigh.org/patient_information/pain_management/index I hope this is what you were looking for.
