Bleeding, but no diarrhea, back to the intro?????

I started this diet back at the end of June so that I could stop taking

6mp(for UC)and breastfeed my daughter. She was born on August 2nd and

we have been doing well so far. My poops are formed but do sometimes

fall apart when flushed. This morning I notuced blood in my stools. So

I'm thinking I need to go back to the intro diet. My question is should

I go all the way back with no fruit but bananas? If so then for how

long since I'm not having diarrhea as explained in the book. Then my

other concern is that I won't be able to consume enough calories to

keep up my milk supply. Not to mention the fact that I think our 7 week

old daughter is showing sensitivity when I eat the yogurt and eat any

sort of beef. So its possible she has a milk protein allergy. Why isn't

life easy! Thanks for any advice or words of encouragement. Its been a

tough couple of days with her pretty much crying when she's not eating

and not wanting to nap. I'm not totally surprised the colitis is

rearing its ugly head! And my doctor was not pleased when I stated my

desire to stop the meds and I have an appt on monday. It just seems

like everything is telling me to stop breastfeeding and get back on my

meds, but I've worked so hard and don't want to give up too soon.

Thanks all.

UC is not my area and Sheila is gone for a day or so. I hope she can

help you more when she returns.

Your daughter is reacting to yogurt and beef. Do you think you may

have increased your amount of yogurt too fast? Maybe back off a

little on the amount. Or if you're using cow's milk, maybe you

should try switching to goat milk. Are you eating grass-fed beef?

If not, try switching to it. Some people tolerate grass-fed if they

don't tolerate regular beef.

I honestly don't know if you should go back to the intro. Did the

blood appear after a new food? Maybe you could just eliminate that

food. Bananas are not on the intro. If you do the intro, could you

eat " tons " of the chicken, well-cooked (4 hour) carrots, diluted

grape juice, and eggs (and maybe the grass-fed beef) to keep up the

calories? It would only be for a couple of days.

If you don't think you would have enough calories, I would do as

simple of a diet as I could that would provide enough calories for

nursing.

honestly, I never did the intro diet since I was feeling completely

healthy when I stopped my meds. There are a few things I;ve been

eating that I think may have not helped things. A nut mix from

target. I've thrown it out and a cranberry juice that silly me was

too frugal to waste once I realized it had some concentrated juices

in it thar I'd never heard of. I think I will keep it simple the next

few days and see if things improve

Also, I have eaten the same amount of yogurt since I started the diet

in june, so I haven't eaten more than meri(my daughter) is used to. I

just know that she's been really cranky the past few days and I've

had a lot of hamburger yesterday and the day before.

I really hope she isn't sensitive to milk and that its just a really

unfortunate coincidence.

thanks for all you suggestions.

I should have known better! I just am missing the ease of things.

Especially with a cranky baby who doesn't like it when mommy tries to

cook or bake!

I did find a raw trail mix at trader joe's though. Do you suppose

that's legal? Needless to say I won't be eating any nuts for a bit to

give my tummy a break.

Thanks.

If the nuts are raw, then I don't see how they could have done anything

to them. But are you sure you're ready for whole pieces of nuts?

Also, any dried fruits are even more advanced. Be sure there's no

sugar added to the dried fruits. Beware of possible sugar in dried

berries especially. (And I don't have to tell you no M & M's or

chocolate chips, right?)

I was able to eat nuts before in moderation. But I'm beginning to

wonder if the 6MP gad not completely left my system. Which would

explain why it was fine before and now isn't. This morning my stools

were completely formed and I saw no trace of blood or mucous. I guess

its probably a good idea to be a bit more conservative for a bit. I

also think I overdid it on the pumpkin cookies I made a few days ago. I

really think the almond flour didn't help. I just hope I can keep my

weight up. I'm 5'7 " and before thgis diet weighed 125. Now I'm down to

116. So you can understand my concern regarding eating enough calories.

Luckily I really like carrots. So I plan on making a batch of those 4

hour ones in a crock pot and eating them at every meal.

And yes, I seriously do mourn the loss of chocolate. I was standing in

the grocery store checkout and they had huge bins of halloween candy. I

was sad to think that I won't taste one of those for quite awhile.

Though its worth it if it keeps me in good health!

Thanks again!
