Guest guest
Mimi: I noticed on the website you posted, the link to Oxalates and SCD, does mention nuts are very high in oxalates, which can trigger inflammation which equals bacteria and yeast in our kids. I'm confused because one article on that website states nuts are good for you, but then I click on the other article which states the nuts are high in oxalates, and high oxalates foods lead to inflammation. Our GI doc told us nuts are very hard to digest and wants us to change his diet to eliminate nuts, he said maybe Pumpkin seed flour? We did another scope on our son in April and after 3 years on SCD he still has inflammation of the stomach lining. So I'm really concerned about all the nuts I'm feeding (cookies, pancakes, pizza). Can you please clarify what I'm hearing/reading regarding nuts. Thanks Jeanne pecan post wrote: Hi Susie, We have had several parents on this list whose children did well with SCD despite the fast that they did not display the usual symptoms of digestive distress. Bacterial toxins can impair the GI tract but sometimes they do not do injury to the digestive system but do damage to other parts of the body. http://microbialinfluence.com/ How LPS, a bacterial toxin affects the symptoms of autism http://microbialinfluence.com/Vegan2/vegan.html " Scientists from all over the world have found that bacterial toxins, especially LPS, play a central role in diseases of inflammation. Most chronic diseases of affluence are diseases of inflammation and they include diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and even certain forms of cancer. " Do continue SCD!! it is the best diet for controlling all the damage from bacterial toxins. Guest guest
Hi, Jeanne, Mimi is not able to be on the list very often anymore. I will try to explain. Nuts are something we don't recommend at the beginning of the diet, but only after some healing has occurred. If you consume yogurt along with nuts and other high oxalate foods, then the probiotic in the yogurt enables the body to get rid of the oxalates. Probiotics in capsules would help, too. Do not make nuts too big a part of your diet. I would not advise substituting with pumpkin seed flour. Seeds themselves are advanced; they have a very fibrous coating. Any seed flour would be extremely advanced because of the quantity you would use. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
