Guest guest
Hi , I think I get what you mean about over-compensation. I wonder how come men of that nature don't understand how trasparent their feelings of inadequacy are? But I guess buying a sports car, unbuttoning their polo shirts and leering at potential office bunnies is less painful than hair transplants, " enhancement " surgery or body sculpting. lol! But if anything, I would chalk up the experience as getting your toe in the (shark infested) waters of making the interview rounds. Can't beat it for experience! As far as your surgeons goes....I would think that your request is a fairly common one and one that can be easily complied with. Even if all it is, is a standardized release back to work or school that many clinics use. Again, they don't need to (and I think they can't) go into much detail but just a generalized statement that the patient is fit to do physical and mental duties of nursing within the limitations of (if there are limitations such as lifting, standing, etc), or with no restrictions. I would pursue this with the office because I think it could be helpful. I am sorry that you are having a bad week....is it related to your healing and recuperation? or to other things going on? I hope that your efforts to " see what is out there " bear fruit and at the least you are making contacts and letting people know that you are ready and willing to get back in the mix. I know in our area of the country, nurses are in big demand....and not just those " no one wants them jobs " on third shift or at questionable facilities. Although I have to admit, alot of places are trying to get by with NAs or LPNs instead of RNs (money issues, of course). Have you considered doing telephone triage type nursing? This may be a way to conserve your energy while you are trying to figure out where to go, what to do. Or the utilization review nursing at a hospital...or risk management...or patient advocacy? Or even education as in continueing ed or being a mentor for a nursing student? (although that one may be physically difficult). I guess I am just a little excited for you thinking of the opportunities that you may have and new things for you to explore. I know I sure would appreciate a nurse taking care of me who has gone through the stuff you have. I think you would be the perfect patient care nurse....for any specialty. I am feeling better...but for some reason I have this unbearble craving, obsession, lack-of-control for sweets / chocolate. It started on Sunday I think and I find myself almost literally burying my head in a bowl of M&Ms and grazing like a cow. I am NEVER like this anymore....usually all it takes is a couple of M&Ms and I am either as nauseous as a flu patient or in so much pain that I cannot look at a piece of candy for months. I am not sure what to make of it as I know that at times, our bodies use cravings to tell us that we are lacking something. But I hardly think we have evolved to carrying an M&M gene (sorry Mars candy company). So I am actually stuffing my face with appetite suppressants to make this go away. Really weird. Maybe it is the change from HOT, HOT, HOT weather to fall like coolness and my " put on the winter fat " gene kicked in (seeing that I can't grow fur like my animals do). Oh well.........hope that you are doing well in all aspects of your job search and " be good to " efforts. laurie PS what is a " professional charleston " ? Is that the southern belle professional look / attitude? I am thinking of Shirley McClean in the Steel Magnolias...............or more the julia roberts character (which is how I think of you anyways)
