Guest guest
Hi , I thought I mention the Miralax med. I did take this, its a powered mix, and its clear and no taste. However, for me it was too gasy and it bloated me up way too much. Everyone is different in thier GI tract. Its suppose to be effective in loosening the bowel and forming the water to make you go. I had a idiopathic slow transit colon, I went thru four years of pain, was correctly dx. in the first half of the year, and then I went thru all the measures one goes thru for taking meds for my problem. Miralax, Zelnorm, MOM (milk of Mag) all of these, including enemas. I was taking MOM and enemas every night, morning of my life, this was slowly killing me. So I ended up having surgery, (sub-total colectomay with illeal asomsosis) but then I Got a perferated bowel after this, almost died, and now, four months after the fact, I have been dx with having pancreatitis, due to the poison inflamed it while it traveled thru my body, and also the possibility of them bruising my pancreas while non-too gently saving my life with sticking a breating tube down me. I have to wait a good year til I am fully recovered, til I Find out if I really will end up having chronic pancreatitis or it will heal. I have another surgery coming up, because I got a bag/colon pouch that saved my life, otherwise I be dead now., so it will come off in Oct. I Hope. Enzymes are something I was thinking about to help aid in my digesting of foods. But which ones, and how safe are they, and what is the correct amount to take? Usually traditional docs will not go this route. You would have to ask an alternative doc. who deals with this. I like correct means of information before I take anything to digest and how it might affect me. Miralax can be good, but for me, even in small quantities, it still didn't do anything. But the plus side is , no taste, and its clear....... depends on how your body will work with it. hope you get some good help and advice. AMber nancy@... wrote: Hi all, I have been reading all the posts lately about constipation and swelling. I have been taking Lasix off and on for the past 2 months. Is there a link between Lasix and CP? Also, I have started taking my enzymes again. I had " forgotten " about them for quite some time. In what way do the enzymes help? Do they cause weight gain? Also, I have been reading a lot about constipation. I take Fibercon and three laxatives per day and only have a bowel movement about every 3 days. Some of you have mentioned Miralax. What is it? How does it work? Any info about this would be greatly appreciated. I have to run to an appointment. I will check back later. Thanks! Thoughts and prayers to all!! T. Guest guest
Amber, you are the first person I have spoken with that has the same problems as me. I am waiting for them to put an ileostomy in me. My colon is a megacolon now and does not have any activity. Very painful, bloating and difficult to eat. I can't even go out to dinner any more because the bloating and pain is so bad after dinner. A real bummer. I have been afraid and put off the surgery, do you think that it helped you. Sometimes I think suffering like this is better. My nutrition is getting better but is still poor. Please tell me more about your experience. I have cystic fibrosis and that is where my pancreatitis came from. Take care and talk to you soon. Deb
