Guest guest
We've recently introduced SCD for our 2yo daughter (UC) and while she's taking to the legal, beginners' foods so much better than I expected, I am at a loss of easy to grab, take-with-us snacks. We've already done cheese and very ripe bananas over and over. We look pretty silly taking a container of cut-up hamburger along in the stroller for her snacking pleasure! LOL We no longer can take baggies of cereal, crackers, cookies, etc. and I'm concerned because my dd needs to be eating as much as possible as often as possible due to malnutrition and weightloss from a flare-up. She spent 11 days in the hospital where we fed her anything and everything she'd eat and I'm already nervous about trying this diet when she really needs all the calories she can get! Any ideas? I'm somewhat leery of some of the cookie recipes are we have recently started and I am trying to avoid advanced foods....but she's been asking and asking for cereal and cookies so I think I need to come up with something fun! We are doing a little of the almond flour bread already and she seems to tolerate it fine, but she only nibbles at it. Thanks! Guest guest
How about squash buttons, sneaky veggie pancakes, banana pancake (you can make the pancakes extra small), bits of cooked veggies, bits of avocado (avocado especially since it has lots of calories and don't give up the banana), bits of baked fruit, chicken nuggets, hard-boiled egg? mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Our 2 year old (29 months) has been struggling to reach 20 pounds, so I know what you mean! I don't know what stage you're in, but we buy small packets of raisins to take along. It's really the easiest snack I've found. I like the idea of avocado slices, our daughter eats pureed avocado in almost every meal---full of good fat and calories! Guest guest
I saw that you are giving her dairy and regular cheese, so perhaps you could try some adapted cheese cookies from the BTVC. I often have to eat while I'm driving. One snack idea I came up with while on the intro was to make the cheese cookies in the BTVC, only I added chicken instead of the nut flour. I just cooked a chicken breast and then pureed in my food processor. I also added to the recipe, a bit more honey and some vanilla extract. All legal for the intro.
