Guest guest
Hi All, Charlie still has diarrhea. Last time I wrote it was the consistency of a thick batter. Now it's more like thin batter. The color is getting lighter. It used to be very bright red (from the carrots), not it's more of a lightish orange. His language skills seem to be improving (although he seems to be stimming a bit more). I took out the zucchini and applesauce, because it looked like it may be making things worse, but when the poop is this much of a mess, it's hard to know what's good and bad. I tried asparagus boiled for an hour and pureed into chicken/carrot soup, but that resulted in very runny diarrhea. My instincts say that the yeast is giving up the ghost. But I'm still not sure what to try next. Sheila suggested spinache + OJ, which I'm willing to try, but I haven't given him any OJ yet. I'd like to give him yogurt, but I'm thinking that may not be a good idea until the diarrhea is at least back to thick batter consistency. I hate to keep asking for the same directions, but I keep ending up in the same place. Please respond if you're not totally sick of hearing this stuff. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I have crohn's and don't know what the tolerances are but thought I'd mention the electrolyte drink is used in the constipation protocol. You drink it sometimes to get things going. Applesauce and ripe (brown spots) on bananas are part of the BRAT diet which helps with diarrhea (supposedly). Even a tiny bit of yogurt in the beginning helped me. Not sure how/when you should try that though. Just thought I'd mention some of this. Carrots can have the a laxative type of effect. I wonder if boiling the chicken and making pancakes or cupcakes instead of rotisserie chicken (less grease) to see if he does better. I stopped having scrambled eggs when I realized that was a problem but have no problems with boiled eggs. I don't know if it was the oil (olive or coconut) or just the way the eggs are prepared. I've noticed a lot of people like starting with butternut squash. Not sure if he can eat that instead of carrots. I'm the opposite--I can't eat the squash but do fine with carrots. Can he eat gelatin? That has protein, made with diluted juice. Again--going on a limb so a moderator can answer for sure. Seems like less grease and more solid type food works better in the beginning. That's me though. I also eat baby lima beans cooked almost as long as carrots--around 3 to 4 hours. That may be too advanced though. I haven't tried the S. Boulardii (sp?) but the candezyme (sp?) was too much for me in the beginning with all the other die-off and cravings going on. Sorry so long, just trying to help. Debbie 38 crohn's pentasa scd 1/07 > > Hi All, > > Charlie still has diarrhea. Last time I wrote it was the consistency > of a thick batter.
