Guest guest
The Farmworker Justice Fund, Farm Worker Pesticide Project and UFW released today a report entitled: Messages from Monitoring: Farm Workers, Pesticides and the Need for Reform. The report highlights the findings of Washington's State medical monitoring program for pesticide handlers which found that about 20% were being overexposed to highly toxic pesticides and that 4.4% needed to be removed from handling tasks due to such overexposures. The report and the Spanish version of the executive summary is available on FJF's website: <http://www.fwjustice.org/pesticide_rept_.htm>. In addiition, today a bill is being introduced into the Washington State legislature to phase out some of the most highly toxic pesticides used in labor intensive agriculture.
