rash on cheek - Could it be die-off or something else???

Since we started SCD 3 months ago, our son periodically gets a red rash

somewhat circular in shape and about the size of a quarter on his face,

left cheek to be exact. It seems to come and go, sometimes within a few

hours, and it varies in brightness and sometimes has bumps. We have not

changed his diet or anything else that we can pinpoint that would cause

this.

What could it be? Die-off or something else someone has had experience

with??

Thanks-

Shari

I would sometimes get a red rash, that was itchy periodically. Mine

seems to be related to yeast.

Are you able to see a good dermatologist? I wonder since it is on

the face and is circular if it may be something unrelated to diet.

Or try google-ing rashes. It can be pretty scary but I found it

helpful when I had a shingles breakout. Afetr comparing I went to

the doctor immediately.

Hi Sheila,

I read your post and it reminded me of the patches my son used to get on his

cheeks as a baby, they started like that and then got oozing eventually. I

found it he was allergic to dairy. When I took all dairy out of my diet (he

was breast fed) they cleared right up within a week. The connection was

clear because he had had them consistently for about 4 months and they would

not go away. The doctor said they were " eczema " which he said was just

" extremely dry skin " . I found out through reading it could be allergy

related. I don't know if you son gets dairy or not, and I don't know if

other foods could cause that reaction but I imagine it's a possibility.

They were circular patches as you described.

He does not get dairy and was GFCF for 8 months before we started

SCD. He's on a very limited array of foods, which we have not

expanded for fear that it's too soon to move past stage 2.

Any other ideas are welcome!
