Has anyone out there taken the time to research her claims? Why is she so bitter? Could there be any truth at all to what she says? I tell you, her letter did scare me and I will research the sites she posted. Where was Dr. Rutledge before he opened his clinic? I know that this is a sensitive subject with many of you but a girl's gotta ask...you know?! >> This is my understanding of this....I had the surgery almost 7 months ago...(just weighed today and am down 87 lbs....to 187) I have had no pain from bile or gastric reflux....I am very aware of my body, can feel an ovarian cyst, etc..kidney infection coming on,....that type of this. My husband reads all the websites...and since he's a Dr is aware of any side effects from the surgery. At about the year anniversary, I'm willing to undergo an endoscopy...and I'll let people know. But so far I feel great. About Dr R , he was at U of NC as a trauma surgeon for something like 20 years...wanted to do WLS fulltime, they said no. I haven't been told by any physician that he was fired....and I've had physician friends inquire about him....everyone had positive , great things to say about him. There is even a Dr in WS where we live who is doing Dr R surgery.... I don't think Dr R would operate on a Drs wife thinking he was going to " kill " me...wouldn't be good for the reputation....just think about it. If he was evil and mean, he probably would have turned me down as a patient...I have a big mouth too! I cannot answer why she is so bitter..she was happy for a long time on this list...then wasn't loosing weight fast enough...and felt poorly. I guess she had some complications. I don't, and don't know of too many who have, but there is always a chance of complications with any surgery...being overweight my entire life, I KNOW the #1 complication from that...HEART DISEASE, the #1 killer in woman....not to mention high blood pressure and diabetes...all killers. Even if I had to trade reflux 20-30 years down the live...I'd still do this because the other risks of obesity are too high for me... I have 6 children....and I want to be there for them. I could have picked another surgeon....but Dr R was right for me.....he might not be right for you...read and do the research. Hope this helps.....I just tend to ramble!
