Guest guest
Fliss, I understood all that you said. When I was in high school and started my period I was having one every other week. My mom said I would regulate and not to worry. This went on for a year. The period pain was horrible and I would often ask to stay home from school because I could barely stand it. My mom said I had to learn to live with the cramping as it was part of being a woman. I couldn't stay home from school because of cramps. She was only doing what she thought was right. Turns out I had endometriosis from a yeast infection that I didn't know I had because I couldn't talk to my mom about such stuff, so I suffered with it until the pain finally went away, but never knew it was that serious. and then it ended up being more severe than that to the point where when I was 16 I was hospitalized and told I would very likely never have children. I'm sure my mom felt horrible not believing my painful episode but never said so. The doctors told me I would always have extremely painful periods because of scaring and that to help reduce the amount of pain I should have a hysterectomy. I refused and 9 years later I finally got pregnant with my beautiful son, who is the light of my life. Rambling on......I am on the depo because I can not handle both pancreatic pain AND period pain. It's not fair, it's not fun and it's not right. With the pain we suffer with from the pancreas aod SOD...who needs period pain too! Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- Hi Sandy and Laurie, Interesting thoughts indeed! I remember as a teenager having menstrual pain which made me gasp, forcing me to sit down and cry when it really gripped me, but thinking at the same time that it just didn't compare in destructiveness with my " gastric " pain (as I thought it then). Of course, one might say that menstrual pain is " natural " in a way which pancreatic pain obviously isn't. Fliss (UK)
