Guest guest Posted August 24, 2005 Report Share Posted August 24, 2005 If your doctor writes a prescription for enteral feedings; ie: the kind that is absolutely not consumable by mouth, then it has to be covered under your insurance. I dont know if you are already aware of this or not, just thought I would let you know. There are several kinds of formula that is used for tube feedings, some are considered able to be orally ingested; groceries; and some can only be given via a peg tube. I was on tube feedings through a g-j tube and every single case was paid for by my insurance carrier as it was the kind that can NOT be taken orally.
