Hi

Its been nearly 2 weeks of SCD for my son and I do think we would be

seeing better results if he wasnt so constipatied all the time.I am

hoping SCD will help address this problem to some extent as he is

currently on suppositories and strong laxatives(and has been for at

least 18 months).Unfortunately even when we do a bowel clear out ie

increasing the laxatives during school hols, weekends etc he quickly

becomes loaded again.I believe that this is what a lot of his

abdominal pain is down to and not just the Ileitis that he was

diagnosed with recently.

I am finding it difficult to find the fine line between keeping his

bowels clear and him being incontinent(this has happened on a couple

of occasions at school)and obviously was very distressing for my son.

I was wondering if it would be OK to try orange juice with prune juice

as recommended by Elaine for constipation, but to use on a daily basis

so early on with my son on the SCD or would appreciate any guidance on

how to prevent this problem from constantly reoccuring.

many thanks in advance

Hi, Majidha,

I think you should try the prune/oj constipation protocol. Let us

know how it goes.

If you think he is impacted you should see either his doctor or go to

the hospital. An impaction can result in complications.

Hopefully the doctor(s) will clear him out.

Once the bowel is cleared you can start using the prune *nectar*/

orange juice combo each day. All fruits and veggies should be peeled

and cooked to avoid worsening constipation.
