Guest guest
Hi! a weird thing has happened twice. my husband can digest pretty much all of the advanced foods- raw whole nuts, raw veggies and fruits, etc. I made him two different meals this past week... the only common denominator was cooked pumpkin. After about 6 hours, both times, he got really really sharp pains in his lower abdomen. He doesnt get gas, bloating, cramping, diarrhea or anything else... just sharp pains that last for a few seconds but are VERY intense. We will stay away from pumpkin, but I am disappointed because he loved pumpkin and it wasnt too high in phenols. has anyone experienced something like this with pumpkin? the pumpkin was baked 1.5 hours... and blended in our blender. the only other thing is that i baked the pumpkin with the seeds still sitting on the pumpkin meat. could the seeds have leached something into the pumpkin? -kelly scd since april 2007

Maybe something in the soil the pumpkin was grown in? Fertilizers, Pesticides ? May just be the fiber of the pumpkin or a combination of the foods that were cooked with the pumpkin. See if he gets the pain again with any other foods. Even if the reaction is not as large. Guest guest
I recently tried pumpkin too. I made cookies and they were delicious. After consuming probably more cookies than I should have I too had some cramping. Then I noticed blood in my stools. But there were many other factors surrounding this episode. Including a very stressful 5 days in which my newborn baby decided not to nap and cried all day long for 5 days(it was terrible). And also the fact that I'm hitting the 3 month mark of being off of 6MP(it can take that long to metabolize). So its hard to say in my case whether its the pumpkin or the many other factors surrounding it. Needless to say I'm staying away from pumpkin for quite a while just in case. Its really too bad because those cookies were delicious! Best of luck. Card I love to paint/draw nature and my weim! It may be from the pumpkin (did you use fresh cooked or canned (illegal)) but it is more likely to be from eating too many cookies. I have the same problem with cookies so I only make half a batch and freeze large portions in hard to get places (way down in the freezer!). The stress and other factors likely contributed also. If the bleeding doesn't subside please let us know. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
