Guest guest
Hey Everyone! I had my surgery Friday, 11/17/00. I' share with you what I have experienced so far. I arrived at DRH at 7 am my surgery was scheduled for 11:30 however it was delayed until 1:30. I was weighed and it reflected a wieght loss of 11 lbs. I didn't realize that I had lost weight. I had not weighed for a month, once I found out I was approved for the surgery. The surgery lasted approx. 28 minutes. Everything went find. The hardest time was getting over the anethesia. By 1:30 am Saturday I could not sleep. I had a little gas in my upper chest and shoulder. I went for my first walk at about 11 pm. The nurses were GREAT! They gave me some pain medicine and some to help me sleep. I had to sleep in the lounger for it was more comfortable than the bed. I slept till 4:00 am and I began regular walks. The pain & gas had subsided. By 7 am Dr. R. came by. He is GREAT!! I was at home in my bed by 12 pm Saturday. ( I only live 1 hr away from Durham). I am trying to figure out the eating timing. I stopped taking the Curafate due to serious dry mouth, dizziness, constipation. As of my fourth day I have not vomitted or dumped. I'll go tomorrow to clinic to have my staples removed. Good Luck to all you pre-ops and if any of the post ops have some advice for foods for Stage 1, please let me know. I seem to still have the same cravings prior to surgery. Thanks to all for their openness and support. T. MGB 11/17/00 241/231/227/130?
