Guest guest
Well, the hospital started out as a County facility. Then the county shut it down so they could spend the budget on a baseball stadium instead. So it was bought out by a private hospital that ended up tearing it down five years later. So we are affiliated with a private hospital with no obligations to the community " patient or employee. But then, there really is no such thing as loyalty anymore: either employee or employer. So that in itself, isn't bad I guess (the lack of community obligation). The big thing here is that a competitor hospital has been growing malignantly (in their eyes) and whatever this humongous conglomerate does, this tiny private hospital thinks it has to do, only bigger and better. So instead of concentrating on the one or two things it does well (like trauma for example) it tries to do everything mediocrally (is that a word?). Which puts them at a huge financial disadvantage as well as recruiting good doctors / researchers. So they try to make it up with pay, which they can only do by elminating the " non-professional " positions (their word, not mine). So it is all politics and money. I heard too that the hospital and Medical College have been hit with some big-time lawsuits lately and that could be impacting the financial bottom line. As far as the zofran you have given me a good idea. I currently take double the 4mgs when I have that real bad nausea that you describe and the 4mg prophylactically. Maybe I can talk my PCP or pain doctor into increasing the script to 8mgs. I am also thinking of getting two scripts one for each insurance, to stock pile too. I have never taken reglan - I have heard such horror stories about that drug that I am quite scared of it but I am convinced that I have gastroparesis...if anything from the narcotics alone. I was told too about the generic zofran...in fact I got a letter from Walgreens a year or so ago but when I inquired a month back, they denied the letter and said that they highly doubt that it is going generic anytime soon. But I do not take what they say too seriously because there have been so many odd things with them in the past. I am going to see if my friend the pharmacist can find out for me. Your symptoms are iffy enough that they can support either diagnosis: and infection / obstruction or liver problems. An obstruction / infection can also make your liver function go out of whack......and liver problems can also affect your bowel function...so it is hard to pinpoint. I hope your CT is able to shed some light on things. You are so right to be concerned......both from your recent surgery as well as you TP / ICT Well......my ride just showed up....I gotta go. I just wanted to wish you well with your CT and I hope you let us know how you are! Laurie
