Guest guest
Well, I did it. My Whipple will be on 9/29 at Mass. General with Dr. Warshaw. The 29th happens to be the birthday of my niece, she'll be 2. I watched her come into the world and it was such a special experience. My mom had one knee and I, the other (hubby was videotaping). Everyone said I'll do great, because of her birthday. I had the opportunity to try to push the date back. I could have said that I wanted to do in mid-Oct. or early Nov. But I figure why put it off, when I could be recovering during this time. I had to tell my best friend that I couldn't be a part of one of the greatest day in her life. That is when the lightbulb clicked and I thought, I've let this go on long enough. It is starting to interefere with all the aspects of my life. I have had a life for the last 8 or 9 months and I can't keep going like this. Oh, I am so nervous. I remember waking up in recovery after they were trying to advance a PEG tube in. The doctor really screwed up on the whole thing, it was a very bad situation. I had so much air pumped in there that my stomach seperated from my abdominal wall. I was in an immense amount of pain. I was transfered to ICU and had to have emergency surgery to sew my stomach and abd. wall together. The surgeon said that when he opened me up a blast of air poofed in his face, like a deflating tire. Anyhow, I was in such bad pain I was screaming Bloody . I just don't want to wake up in agony. Guest guest
....I'm so happy that you finally have a date for your surgery! And I'm hoping & praying things will go great! I know you really hate to miss your niece's birthday, and your friends wedding, but you have to think about YOU now. You have had such a rough time. Wow! Your story about waking up in recovery really sounds scary! I'm so sorry you had to experience that! I woke up DURING surgery when they put in my first port-a-cath...I was crying, and I have the best surg. here in Ohio, and he heard me & was so upset that I was awake & crying, I heard him say, give her more! now! knock her out! And when I was in recovery he came in & was so concerned & kept apologizing! He is such a cutie! So when I had to have my port replaced last Aug. I told him I didn't want to wake up this time, and he assured me I wouldn't, and I didn't, thank goodness! But any-who....I will have your surgery marked on my calander, and please send me the name & address of the hospital where you will be,please & thank you (are the magic words!). Lots of Hugs, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wrote: Well, I did it. My Whipple will be on 9/29 at Mass. General with Dr. Warshaw.
