Guest guest
Hi all, I know that canned veggies are to be avoided. I've never ever seen olives that are NOT canned. Are there any that are SCD legal? thanks, Alana mom to dd13 ASD, SCD since 9/15/
Guest guest
lots of grocery stores have olive bars -- also at Italian Delis. just need to make sure there is nothing else on the " bar " that shares the scoop that could contaminate the olives... > > Hi all, > > I know that canned veggies are to be avoided. Guest guest
When I shop at Trader Joe's I find Kalamata olives in jars that do not have any illegals. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Hi Alana, Olives are legal. I use the green ones that come in a jar. They have lactic acid but that is okay. I haven't found a legal black olive - here they all have ferrous gluconate (which Elaine didn't like). Except, I have found some legal kalamata olives (with the pits). Here's a legal black olive Mimi posted about: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/67002 Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and <<I know that canned veggies are to be avoided. Not sure I've ever seen an olive bar; just olives on a salad bar. How would we know these didn't just come out of some large can in the back? mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Good point -- I was thinking of Olive bars at places like Whole Foods where they have maybe 15 different types of olives to buy. It probably is too risky, though I don't think the WF's olives come from cans -- they seem very fresh and different from canned olives I have seen. I was just at WF's and it made me think the contamination problem is too big a risk too.
