Guest guest
I have 2 boys with autism and have been on this diet for quite some time now. I was feeding my youngest a ton of raisins and even though he wasn't getting any sugar, he acquired 8 cavities (raisins)! He is in severe pain, grabbing his cheek and screaming incessantly. I have him on Dye free Motrin (first time in years) around the clock. The anesthesiologist will not be at our dentist's office for 14 days, so my dentist is suggesting that I put my son on a course of antibiotics! He hasn't had any in 3 or so years and he is 5 years old. He is currently on Nystatin (1 tsp in the am) and lactobacillus acidophilus from Kirkland labs (1 pill in the am). Any ideas on how I should handle this? What is the worst poison? The dentist said he could repair the one tooth giving him immediate problems by putting him in a papoose (straight jacket) and doing the procedure with a local anesthetic that won't help him because of the probable bacteria causing the pain. So...papoose or wait for general anesthetia? In the meantime, the boy is on Motrin every 6 hours...yikes! He can't speak so he just holds his little cheek and cries and cries and cries. Help! Guest guest
The 14 day wait is outrageous. I would try calling around and to find another dentist who could do what needs to be done asap. Explain that it is an emergency. Dentists build in time for emergencies. Switch to the new dentist " permanently " if that is what it takes to have the work done. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
