Guest guest
, I know how difficult it is to face a new disease, when you are still dealing with the pancreatitis. Most people are caught off guard. You mention that your sugars have been high for the past two weeks that you have also returned to school and you question if there is a relationship between stress and blood sugar elevations. The answer is definitely yes. But, knowing that the ICP is not guaranteed, it is highly likely that it id also due to insufficient production of insulin. That is good that you have an appointment with an endocrinologist September 9, 2005. I encourage you to call the hospital where the MD is associated with and see if they have a diabetes education department. Many CDEs (Certified Diabetes Educator) do not charge for this service, and if they do having pancreatitis qualifies anyone as a prediabetic or high risk, which would be approved. Talk to your local CDE staff and let them know your story. Tell them you have so many questions that need answers before your appointment. They are such a wealth of information. Until then I encourage you to visit the ADA (American Diabetes Association) web site at _www.diabetes.org_ (http://www.diabetes.org) which has lots of information, also.
