Guest guest
Deb, You wrote, " My BS go up to 170-300 a half hour after eating dinner. They remain up for six or seven hours and then they come down on their own to a normal range. Usually about 110. " When I saw my endocrinologist recently she reviewed my blood sugar logs and told me that she was pleased to announce I was not showing any signs of gastroparesis. I asked her how she determined that. She said it was due to the fact that there was not a prolonged elevation of my blood sugars. She said that blood sugars should return top normal within two hours after eating. Is this something that has been discussed with you? Guest guest
Deb, With food sitting in the stomach, the blood sugar level will rise. Food needs to enter the duodenum to begin effective digestion, though digestion actually begins in the mouth with saliva. I would encourage you to contact your local diabetes education department at your local hospital or health department. I attend on a regular basis. They are not only trained in diabetes, but trained in the education of diabetes. I wouldn't be as stable today without their assistance. Guest guest
I'm not sure I correlate the two gastro and BS.? What is the clinical rational for this? But should the BS go up to 180-250 within that two hour time frame? I don't know, endo was not forte in nursing so I need educated here? thank you Deb
