Guest guest
Sandy, Both Darvon and Darvocette are the opium narcotic based drug propoxaphine. The difference between these two is that Darvocette is combined with Tylenol, whereas, Darvon is not. Propoxaphine is not a very strong analgesic, however, if you have not previously been on narcotics, then this may be a good place to start. Guest guest
Karyn, I have been taking darvocet for years and it just isn't cutting the pain anymore so I asked my FNP for something different. It was assumed long ago that I was allergic to vicodin so we have stayed away from that. It gave me a vertigo feeling for days after taking it. I do have the percocet 5's but don't take them often as they make me wired and don't always get rid of the pain either. And I supplement them with a zanax to combat that wired feeling. My FNP did mention ms contin for a minute, and I mentioned oxycodone, but that seems so strong. I also have to stay with generic meds because my prescription cost is outrageous. Do you have a suggestion for me? I'd be glad to print it out and bring it to her for her to read from one RN with pancreatitis to another FNP trying to help me manage mine. Thanks, Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- Sandy, Both Darvon and Darvocette are the opium narcotic based drug propoxaphine.
