Hi Group:

Just a thought.... I'm sure the Durham group isn't the only

anesthesiolgists in town. Someone needs to find out who else works with the

hospital and request their group for surgery. Nothing like healthy

competition. Imagine the money coming into Durham Anest from the MGB

patients. I'm sure the inconvience the Durham Anest group has experienced

lately with a few of the insurance companies is worth all the money they're

making from Dr. Rutledge's group. What you're dealing with is probably a

disgruntled insurance clerk who has experienced a few hassles. So what else

is new with insurance companies! Again...the money they're making from this

group should be worth a few insurance hassles! Maybe another step needs to

be added to our packets (ugh)....a letter confirming coverage of the surgery

and RELATED EXPENSES. This letter could be forwarded to the

Anesthesiologist instead of $910. Bye for now.

Hi

Thanks for the great post and the great idea. I did ask my insurance if

there was anyone else to do it, and they did say it was them for me, because

they were with the hospital under contract. This deal is nuts with them

suddenly sticking a deposit out there, if there would have been a warning,

or something, I could have handled that, but this was just BANG! I dont mind

paying Dr. R a deposit, because that has always been in there since I began

researching the surgery with him, so that is not an issue, but this new pop

up from Durham Anes is. I think it would have been fair to say, " Hey,

starting Jan 1 2001 we will require everyone to do this deposit "

Welcome to the city of Medicine ! :)
