BS and antibiotics

Though infections can cause a false positive on a glucose tolerance test,

the antibiotics do not affect the results. It would be important to let them

know that you are taking Levaquin for a sinus infection/bronchitis.

The only drugs that are known to cause false positives are steroids, oral

contraceptives, estrogens, thiazide diuretics, and salicylates.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could give me information about BS and taking

antibiotics. Specifically, I am supposed to have a 2 hour glucose tolerance

test tomorrow am (Sat.), but I am on Levaquin for a sinus infection/bronchitis.

I feel as though I have read about antibiotics " altering " blood sugars? Is this

true? I know that steroid injections can really " screw up " your blood sugars.

Anyone who might know about this I would appreciate hearing from.

Thoughts and prayers to all!! God Bless all the people/children, family

members, etc. who are effected by Hurricane Katrina!!!
