Guest guest
Hi everyone, I haven't seen this discussed before, so here goes. I ruined the first attempt at goat milk yogurt by letting the temp get up to 125 or so. So....I cooled it back down, and re-introduced another 1/2 cup of store-bought starter, and have vowed to do better this time with the temp. I just didn't want to throw it all out. Are we still safe if I'm able to keep it to the 110 mark for the next 24 hrs.? Will be more cow's milk than I want her to have-oh well. Also, has anyone in the Chlt. are found an SCD legal store bought yogurt to use as starter? Everything I've seen at Earthfare and Home Economist has pectin or inulin. Also have never found a " farmers cheese " I'm 100% sure about-comments? Thanks Judy
Guest guest
Hi Judy, You can buy the DCCC cheese in the following places: http://www.scdiet.org/8resources/drycurd_sources.html Note for the autism community: All these cheeses are made from cow's milk; I do not recommend cow's milk for children with autism. Unfortunately, White Egret farm in Austin, Texas that makes DCCC from goat's milk has changed their formula. Their new version might not be SCD legal. If yes, it may be okay. I am not sure I would use this batch for someone who still has plenty of symptoms, though. <<Will be more cow's milk than I want her to have-oh well. > Also, has anyone in the Chlt. are found an SCD legal store bought > yogurt to use as starter? Everything I've seen at Earthfare and Home > Economist has pectin or inulin.>> If your store bought starter had pectin or inulin these are illegal. If you used this with a double dose in this batch I wouldn't give it to anyone following the diet. Other family members/ friends may like it. << Also have never found a " farmers > cheese " I'm 100% sure about-comments?>> Legal DCCC info: http://www.scdiet.org/8resources/drycurd_sources.html Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs, mom of and
