Hello;

I am new to the group and I follow you all from Ä°stanbul,

My wife is 32 years old and she has a 22 mm stone (or formation of stones) in

the middle of her pancreas. She had 3 times ERCP. But nothing came out with the

baskets they used during the ERCP operation. Then they tried ESWL operation to

break the stone (or stones). However it was not possible. Because a

nasopancreatic drain should have been placed beyond the stone before ESWL. But

they could not manage to place it with ERCP. The stone was too big and it

obstructed the main pancreatic duct.

Now it seems the only choice is surgery. She has constant pain in her back which

becomes sometimes very severe. She uses non opioid medicine. She never needed

morphine untill now but her quality of life decreases day by day. She is on

Creon and insulin (4 times a day)

We are thinking about having surgical treatment. But we are not sure if it is

the right time.

I would like to share information with anybody who has stones in his pancreas

and had surgical or ESWL treatment. When is the right time and what type of

surgical treatment is needed?

Thanks

Mehmet
