INSURANCE WOES??

Hi Everyone:

Attention: Margaret, Carla and all December pre-ops !

I talked with my insurance yesterday(Aetna).. There are three other

anesthesiologists in the area that are under the in-network agreement.

So, call your insurance and ask for anestialogists in that area

in-network..

She also said that the anesthesiologists are under the hospitals

umbrella of in-network. She said because the hospital is in-network they

will pay the customary 90%. She did say that I would be responsible for

the 10% of the negotiated charges unless Durham Anest. fought the

in-network thing. Since they do not have a direct agreement to take the

negotiated price for services. Also, she said that I SHOULD GO ELSEWHERE

IF POSSIBLE!

Elsewhere for anesthesia that is.. So she guided me to the webpage that

gives their names and phone numbers.

I also talked with Barbara at Dr. R. office. She said that as far as she

knew Durham Anest. was the only ones in the area so that is all they

used, but that if there were others, that it should be fine... I will

email Dr. R. for a confirmation of this today..

I do not know about ya'll, I am BROKE but I must have this before Dec.

31 because my insurance is changing on Jan. 1, 2001. So, I really do not

know what I will do... There is some serious prayer for guidance going

on in my house...

I am going to rant now....

I have had this surgery scheduled over 3 weeks now.. I scheduled it 6

weeks out (12/15/2000)so I could come up with the $1255.00. This

$1255.00 is already cutting my children's Christmas down almost to

nothing.. So, I do not have anymore to get. I have squeezed the

proverbial turnip all that I can squeeze. I do not know now what to do..

I will not borrow from anyone, I do not have it, I do not have a credit

card with $910.00 on it.. So any great words of wisdom out there??

I do know that I will try to find another Anest. today and if not, I

will do think about it til Friday and then I will do whatever I must

do. I will have some kind of WLS before 12/31/00.

Thanks for listening,

in GA

I love the expressions, " Whenever a door closes, a window opens " but I like to

add, " but the hallways are hell " . LOL...My wish for you this Thanksgiving is

that you will be able to work this out in a way that is positive for you. I

just hate last minute monkey wrenches and understand that you are discouraged

about this!
