Guest guest
I have to give him 3 weeks of amoxicillan, and I am terrified it is going to destroy his gut. We have always avoided Rx antifungals but are giiving a small dose of Diflucan along with the antibiotic. We are also giving probiotics away from the antibiotic. Is this combo OK to do temporarily, or does anyone have other suggestions/concerns. Interestingly, my son had a well-formed " trophy " diaper after one day of this, and since SCD, it has been mushy but without chunks of food. Any advice appreciated. Guest guest
Hi, Mrsstanko, You do what you have to do. It is good that you are continuing the probiotics and giving them away from the antibiotic. If his gut gets too messed up you should go back to more basic foods for a while. Can't explain the trophy. We've had mystery good poops during bad times, too. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks, ! I just hope and pray 1 round of antibiotics kills this lyme and we can be done with it and move on with our lives. There is actually an entire Yahoo! group of parents with kids with the lyme/autism combo who cannot get rid of the lyme no matter what they do. We are clearly not dealing with normal immune systems here! I will continue to keep the foods as basic as possible. I cringe every time I give this Amox. because I know that this is part of what caused his regression to begin with. UUUUUUUUUUUUGH! I am thinking that maybe because we are strengtheneing his immune system by dealing with his gut through SCD, his immune system is started to switch back to Th1 immunity instrad of being in a state oh hyperimmunity and that is why he showed the lyme symptoms. He has not even had an issue w/seasonal allergies this fall since SCD! This is usually a major problem for him. Bizarre.

The S. boulardii can be taken at the same time as the antibiotic because it is a good yeast and antibiotics just work on bacteria. But the diflucan will likely kill the S. boulardii. Are you dosing diflucan at every dose of the antibiotic. If yes you could take the S. boulardii with the probiotics. They also work well together. <<Interestingly, my son had a well-formed " trophy " diaper after one day of this, and since SCD, it has been mushy but without chunks of food. > Any advice appreciated. > > Thanks, > MS mom of Nick age 5 autism SCD almost 2 months>> The mush may have been from the lyme disease. Some have reported good stools with antibiotics. Hopefully they will continue to improve. Please keep us updated.
